A turn-of-the-century detailed 16-foot lobby ceiling illuminated with original brass rosettes, a polished and flame cut floor of yellow Bulgarian limestone and Paul Kotlarevsky s "Seated Officer," which stares approvingly from behind the desk, set the tone of dignity and elegance that welcomes visitors to the hotel. A magnificent copper dome in the hotel salon further develops this theme, while Elie Nadelman s 22 original dry point drawings repose dramatically in the library, interspersed among the novels of Dickens, Austen, Doctorow and Hemingway.
